All liveries & holiday liveries, associated parties and the public on the yard must adhere to these rules. Failure to do so will result in being removed from the yard.
Yard Rules
- The yard will be available to liveries and associated parties to access at all times providing that measures are taken to avoid disturbance to other users, particularly between the hours between 9pm and 6am.
- The yard means all areas and facilities used by the liveries and associated members which includes the stables, feed room, tack room and fields.
- The Yard Manager will be available for assistance between the hours of 07:00am to 17:30pm Monday to Friday and 10:00am to 16:00pm Saturday and Sunday.
- The yard will require that all liveries and associated parties handle and manage their horses in accordance with BHS Best Practice Guidelines at all times.
- Children under the age of 14 are not permitted on the yard unless they are under the supervision of an appropriate adult.
- Dogs are not allowed on the yard at any time unless permission has been granted in advance.
- The yard and farm land has a no smoking policy. You are not permitted to smoke anywhere on the site.
- Any injuries, accident or damage must be reported to the Yard Manager as soon as possible. If the Yard Manager is not available at the time of the accident, please ensure that you provide these details at the earliest convenience for recording.
- All vehicles to be parked in designated parking areas (overnight parking is not permitted unless by prior arrangement).
- Please ensure that all lights are switched off, taps are not left running or unattended and litter is disposed of in the bins provided.
- Please empty wheelbarrows and skips onto the muck heap.
- We will endeavour to keep the yard clean and tidy but liveries and associated parties are responsible for ensuring the area around their stable, hay store, tools store, tack room, feed room and other areas used by them are kept clean and tidy.
- Wheelbarrows, tools and other items left in an unsafe location or lying around will be removed by the Yard Manager and placed in a safe location.
Horse Care & Turnout Rules
- All horses must be vaccinated against equine flu and tetanus.
- All horses must have a regular worming programme.
- All horses must receive appropriate medical care when they have a medical condition, illness or injury.
- You may only turn out horses in fields designated by the Yard Manager.
- Unless expressly agreed or with the livery or if it is normal for the horse to be alone, no horse must be left alone in any field at the end of the day. If you see a lone horse and you are not able to contact the horse’s owner, please advise the Yard Manager.
- The Yard Manager reserves the right, in consultation with the liveries, to plan and manage the herd size and composition together with field allocation governed by field conditions.
- The Yard Manager reserves the right, in consultation with the liveries to manage turnout in fields as governed by the weather and field conditions.
- It is advised that liveries and associated parties should wear their riding hat and gloves when turning out and bringing in horses.
- The yard gate must be kept closed at all times.
Riding Rules
- All liveries and associated parties must have appropriate riders insurance cover them to ride any horse on the yard. Proof of insurance certification will be required by the Yard Manager.
- The yard will require that all riders ride and manage their horses in a safe and responsible manner, ensuring the safety of themselves, horses and other riders.
- Correct riding gear must be worn at all times, minimum of a riding hat (to standard PAS 015 or BS EN 1384), suitable footwear, clothes and a hi-viz jacket must be worn.
- Correct tack must be worn at all times when riding in accordance with The Highway Code. A minimum of a saddle and a bridle must be worn.
- All tack must be in good working order and checked on a regular basis to ensure it is safe and fit for riding.
- Riding on the farm is only permitted when ground conditions are suitable and dry. Riders are not permitted to ride across crops or cause damage to crops and the land.
