Just a short 5 minute walk away from you holiday cottage you can find the abandoned hutholes from a medieval settlement.
Local Tors
A Tor refers to a high, rocky hill or free-standing rock outcrop and make a great destination for a local walks and rides.
Wind Tor can be seen from Dockwell Farm and is within an easy walking distance. Just beyond you can find many Tors, however, the most popular are Haytor Rocks, Saddle Tor and Hound Tor.

Widecome In The Moor
There are some lovely craft shops in Widecome in the Moor and why not enjoy a gentle walk too. The local church is a peaceful and interesting building to visit too, with some history of Widecombe in the Moor including how the famous Widecombe Fair originated.
Ullacombe Farm
Ullacombe Farm has a lovely childrens area both inside and out, farm animals to look at along with a farm shop, butchers (the pork & honey sausages are well worth trying) & café.
Becky Falls
Becky Falls Woodland Park in Manaton has a beautiful waterfall, ancient woodland, animals, keeper talks and children’s nature challenges as well and events throughout the year.
Bellever Forest
Bellever Forest & Tor have waymarked walking trails to enjoy as well as a nice riverbank to picnic next to.
House of Marbles
House of Marble is well worth a visit to watch the big marble run, museum and café and best of all its free to visit.
China Blue
China Blue in Totnes is a great destination to paint some pottery, you can even make your own highland cow out of clay (special event to book) and also has a café.
Pennywell Farm
Pennywell Farm is a place to take the children with fun filled activities including rides, pig racing, shows, displays and over 150 animals to see.
Buckfast Otters
Buckfast Butterflies & Otter Sancturary in Buckfastleigh is a great zoo and wildlife park.
