Dockwell Farm is an ideal place to bring your equine friend on holiday with you.
Our fully equipped traditional holiday cottages are spacious and comfortable, offering self-catering accommodation for you and your horsey friends, whilst your equine companion has stabling and grazing with a view.
Our location in Dartmoor National Park, means you have direct access to many trails across the moor where you can ride for hours, even days, without having to ride on the road. However, we also offer lots of quiet hacking on local lanes if that’s what you prefer, so you can have the best of both worlds. Whatever route you take, you can be guaranteed stunning scenery all day long.

Mothercombe Beach is accessible during low tide only and is approximately 1-1 ½ hours drive away, Location PL8 1LB. There is a scenic 10-15 minute walk from the long grass car park. The site has toilets and a beachside café.
Check Tide Times
The beach is highly tidal. You must plan your ride for low tide; otherwise, there is extremely limited sand, and high tides cover the flats completely.
Avoid Peak Hours
To ensure a safe and enjoyable ride, aim for early mornings or late afternoons, especially during weekends and holidays when the beach can become busy with visitors.
Experience Level
Due to the wide open spaces and proximity to the water, beach rides are generally recommended for confident, experienced riders.
Other beaches where horse riding is permitted are Saunton Sands that has a 3.5 mile stretch of flat sand or Berrow Beach and Brean Sands these are approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours away.
We can offer a variety of accommodation for your equine. Stabling and Grazing is located on our farm, so your equine will always be close by. Stabling can either be on a private yard (max 2 x 15.2 horses) or in a shared barn, it just depends on what you and your horse prefers.
